The Fire Utility Boat Project

Serving Hat Island and the surrounding area, the vessel will: Transport Fire Fighters and equipment, Evacuate persons from roadless areas, Transport patients, Assist mutual aid partners in search & rescues, and Assist boaters.

This will move the project cross the finish line.

Funds Received So Far

About $24,000 from a state grant and community members have given a generous $27,000 in money and purchased equipment.

What Does The Boat Need?

One outboard motor’s lower unit that is the transmission cannot be repaired. The replacement is $12,000. Two propellers are needed at $1,000 each. An Automatic Identification System, common on public safety vessels, is $1,100. Covering the cockpit to protect from the weather is about $4,000.
